Blog in the Field

The blog I found is written by a Special Education Teacher and it was written on February 20, 2012.  This particular blog is called A Couple of PD Tips for SPED Teachers and the Special Education Teacher talks about two different ways that teachers can find resources for teaching practices that work for students with and without disabilities.  One of the ways is by being apart of online networks where you can read about other teacher's practices that work or a teacher can read a book.  I wish that the blog talked about specific practices or instructions that this Special Education Teacher uses in their classroom.

Technology in Education

From my person experiences, I have learned that technology is a key component in the classroom for students with disabilities.  The article that I found talks about the use of the iPad in Special Education and how the iPad can be used for a wide range of needs to help students in the classroom to interact with their peers.  I agree with this article that the iPad allows for students with disabilities to do things on the iPad that they normally couldn't do on their own which allows for them to interact with their peers and participate in activities in the classroom.

Teaching Philosophy

I have created my teaching philosophy through my classes here at UW-Oshkosh and my personal experiences of being in classrooms and I also believe that my teaching philosophy will continue to grow and change as I gain more experience.  Since I am majoring in Early Childhood Education, my teaching philosophy is focused around my students having fun and being excited while learning new ideas and participating in activities.  My teaching philosophy will also focus on how to accommodate my lessons and activities for students with disabilities so that students with disabilities can receive the same education and skills as their peers.

About Me

My name is Megan and I am currently in my third year here at UW- Oshkosh.  I am majoring in Early Childhood and Elementary Regular and Special Education.  I enjoy playing tennis, reading, and hanging out with my family, friends, and boyfriend.  I have a younger sister but I have a very big extended family and we are very close to each other.  My family gets together twice a year during Thanksgiving and Christmas and its a fun time!  When I graduate, I hope to teach in the Milwaukee area, which will allow for me to be close to my family and friends.
